Directions:  The Arkansas River has fishable waters from Leadville to Pueblo, with miles of river access in between. These are some favorite access points. To reach the Pueblo tail water, an excellent winter and early spring fishery, head towards Denver on hwy 36. Just outside Denver merge onto I-25 south and head towards Pueblo about 100 miles to the south. Get off at exit 101 and head west on hwy 50 for 2 miles then left on hwy 45. After about 3 miles you will cross the river then turn right on hwy 96. There is a parking area for the Arkansas about 2 miles up on the right. There are several miles of access from here downstream, and about a half mile of upstream access. If you would like to reach the sections of river upstream of Pueblo simply head west on hwy 50. Once upstream of Canyon City the access points are numerous and well marked.
