Guide Staff

Brian Bernat

Guide
Brian grew up fishing the coast and lakes of New Jersey. He moved to Colorado in 2015, picked up a fly rod, and has since been addicted to the hunt for wild trout in the Rockies. Usually found in the shop or hanging with his family in the Indian Peaks, Brian's always looking for new spots to fish.

Duncan McHenry

Guide
Duncan's introduction to fly fishing came on the small streams and high lakes of Rocky Mountain National Park, where he grew up fishing with family on summer trips from his native Kansas City. Back home, the addiction continued to grow as he started throwing flies at warm water species like carp and bass, along with making trips to the spring-fed trout streams of southern Missouri. Duncan has been a full-time resident of Colorado since 2015 and a guide with Rocky Mountain Anglers since 2016.

Alex Marut

Guide
Alex started fly fishing for largemouth and striped bass on the East Coast when he was young. Since living in Colorado, he has enjoyed exploring the local creeks, rivers, and alpine lakes the Front Range has to offer. When he's not fishing, he's probably either working his other job as a professional chef or hanging with his dog, Rio.

Evan Bonano

Guide
Evan grew up fishing for redfish and speckled trout in the marshes of Louisiana. You can always find him on the river with a camera and a fly rod.

TJ Bauer

Guide
TJ’s inspiration comes from chasing trout at a young age in Montana. Typically found in his kayak with his dog Winnie, or on the creek throwing dries. He believes there are no bad days on the water. Come drop by the shop and he’ll lead you in the right direction.

Bill Hayes

Guide
My earliest memory is of cleaning fish with my grandfather at Potato Lake. At the age of 12, I declared that I would never clean another fish and so my days of staring at a bobber came to an end. At 23, my newly-acquired father-in-law informed me that we were going fly fishing – and with that, my passion for angling was reignited and firmly cemented. Some thirty year later, I’ve come realize that fly fishing is my therapy and meditation. It brings me great satisfaction to share the experience with others.
